2019 Tasting Notes

Lively and bright in appearance. The nose bursts with aromas of blackcurrant leaf, wet slate and limes. Rich complex flavours of kiwi fruit and lemon zest follow on the palate. Textured with a coarse salinity on the mid palate. A pure expression of Sauvignon Blanc. Youthful and elegant, the wine concludes with a long zesty lingering finish.

Tasting Notes

This wine shows layers of minerality and tropical fruits on the nose. A balanced palate with long lingering acidity. 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Semillon. 30% of the Sauvignon Blanc was fermented and aged for 8 months in a 300 litre French Oak barrels. The remaining components were fermented in stainless steel tanks and left on the fine lees.

Tasting Notes

The beautifully concentrated palate shows fresh blood orange, nutty almond with a twist of naartjie zest. While the flavours lean toward indulgence, an undeniable sense of purity weaves gracefully, expressed in a seashell minerality accentuated by the tight, chalky structure. Soaring acidity brightens the fruit through to the dry finish with lingering whispers of white peach.

Tasting Notes

Daniel Colombo's "Rosie" is a light and fresh wine with a complex nose of lemon, orange, raspberry, and potpourri, followed by an intensely savoury, piquant finish and a slightly piquant and more-ish profile, leaning more towards a beginner orange wine than a typical rosé due to its skin contact. The 2024 vintage is a blend of 40% Colombar, 40% Cinsault, and 20% Syrah, with half of the Colombar undergoing skin contact and all components fermented and matured in old 225-litre barrels. Aroma: lemon, orange, raspberry, and potpourri.

Tasting Notes

The 2020 Kevin Arnold Shiraz adds to the acclaim of Helderberg-grown Shiraz, displaying layered, warmer spices of black pepper and cloves, with the aromatics of a savoury plum and red fruit character, and subtle spices such as cinnamon and clove accompanying the rich complexity of the wine. Refined, smooth tannins add structure and balance to the integrated acidity, all leading to a fruit-forward palate. The Mourvèdre component contributes to the complexity of the mid-palate by adding earthiness and depth.

Tasting Notes

Light bodied with a silky texture and a complex bouquet of sour cherry, smoked meat, sweet spices, and milk chocolate. Dry with an initial burst of red fruit showing red cherry and redcurrant, which evolve into ripe plum and black cherry. Layers build with notes of nutmeg, black pepper, and forest floor.

Tasting Notes

Cassis, blackberry, graphite, nuances of mulberry and plum backed with hints of cedar wood and pencil shavingsbe used for this wine. Selected blocks in the vineyard are allocated to be used in making the Big G.

Tasting Notes

A sense of quiet luxury on the opening chords; thatch, heather, white blossom and French linen give way to green pineapple, lemon balm and fresh honey. The fruit weaves richer on the palate, silken ribbons of peach, apricot and peardrop. A squeeze of limey acidity enlivens and sculpts around lush fruit, going flintier to the side palate and evolving into an appetising mineral-saltiness on the finish.

Tasting Notes

This wine is a great example of the harmonious balance which can be achieved between fruit and delicate oak/vanilla flavours, as they combine to form complex, soft flavours with sufficient body to enhance even spicy and full flavoured meals.
