Pepper Club has beefed up its management team with a trio of well-seasoned professionals in South
Africa's leisure industry.
According to David Solomon, chairman and developer of Pepper Club, the new appointments strengthen
the already well-experienced management team. "We are very lucky to have appointed three of South
Africa's veteran hospitality professionals. With over 75 years of experience between them, Mike
FitzGerald, Chris Bertie and Stephen Lailvaux bring a wealth of knowledge to the hotel."
Responsible for all Pepper Club operations, Group General Manager Mike FitzGerald has amassed more
than 36 years experience in the hospitality and travel industry, having cut his teeth at Sun
International, where he spent 16 years working his way up to Director of Sales.
FitzGerald subsequently established his own hospitality management consultancy and was awarded the
management contract for the pre-opening of a 5 star hotel in Sandton, which went on to win the
coveted Conde Nast Award for Most exclusive all-suite boutique hotel worldwide eight years running

accommodation right into the heart of Cape Town. Bookings have already started flooding in for 2010 and we expect to host some of the world's premier soccer fans when they visit next year." says
FitzGerald.
Hospitality Consultant Chris Bertie also comes with an enviable track record in the industry,
having previously been the Managing Director of Halcyon Hotels, operators of the 5 star Bay Hotel
and Blues Restaurant in Camps Bay.
Bertie also held the position of Director of Cape Town Tourism between 2001 and 2004 and was a key
factor in many of the original initiatives that helped to put Cape Town on the world map. Following the implementation of many of these initiatives, the city has gone on to win a number of awards
including Best World City 2008 in the UK's Telegraph Travel Awards.
Finally, Marketing Manager Stephen Lailvaux, brings with him a wealth of experience in hotel and
leisure marketing, having most recently worked as director of marketing at Gatsby International
Hotels, with the responsibility of marketing as well sales and revenue management.

Club on the Beach - the innovative beach club bar and restaurant situated on the Camps Bay
Promenade serving Michelin-star cuisine - introduces a new concept to South Africa's hotel
industry," says Lailvaux.
