Pepper Club has launched its official state-of-the-art online booking site well in time to capture a
slice of the tourism market for 2010.
Chairman and developer of Pepper Club, David Solomon says the web is becoming the preferred method for planning and booking a hotel stay globally. "In addition, many of them prefer to do their own research to ensure that their accommodation suits their particular preference."
Around the world, online booking is the fastest growing booking method and it is estimated that in
five years time it could account for as much as 40% of all bookings. Both locally and internationally, tourism and hospitality businesses are investing in the latest Internet technology to attract and
secure more bookings. There is also a growing trend of 'last minute holidays' being booked online. In
the first half of this year online bookings by members were 47% up on the same period in 2008.
The new locally-developed Pepper Club booking site is extremely user-friendly and will also allow
potential guests to book live inventory off the site. "It is a seamless system that does not require
human intervention," says Solomon.
With the 2010 Soccer World Cup approaching and fans soon to learn where their teams will be based
during the tournament, Solomon expects a huge spike in online bookings for South African hotels. "With 70% of the bookings being sold out by operators thus far, online booking will have a huge role to play for fans anxious to secure accommodation."
